Jakartans favor Jokowi, Faisal for top job: UI survey

Surakarta Mayor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and economist Faisal Basri deemed
as favorites to win the upcoming Jakarta gubernatorial election,
according to a survey from the University of Indonesia.

According to the survey, 17 percent of Jakarta's residents believe that
Jokowi will be able to improve the capital's condition in the future.
Meanwhile, about 16.5 percent residents favor Faisal as the agent of
progress for Jakarta.

"For leadership category, Jokowi also reached the first spot with 7.13
percent of votes, while Faisal earned second place with 6.5 percent,"
said political psychologist from the University of Indonesia (UI), Hamdi
Moeloek on Tuesday.

Faisal crowned the first spot for the visionary segment; with 6.64
percent of residents consider him as the "right man to build Jakarta in
the next 30 years to rival other cities in ASEAN".

"Jokowi finished second with 6.48 percent," said Hamdi.

Incumbent Fauzi Bowo was eluded from the top, reaching only 5.13 percent
votes for leadership category.

The Jakarta gubernatorial election is slated for July 11, 2012. (asa/ued)
